About this stone
This is a rare, spectacular formation: a complete "portal" or "window" slice cut through an amethyst geode, leaving an open ring you can see straight through. The outer shell reads as smoky grey-green agate/chalcedony, while the inner rim is lined all the way around with pointed amethyst crystals in soft lavender-to-violet tones, dusted with dark goethite inclusions that trace across the crystal faces like fine ink work.
Because the slice is hollow through the center, this piece plays beautifully with light and space — mount it near a window or a lamp and the hole becomes a glowing violet halo. The organic, uneven outline (nothing here is a perfect oval) keeps the natural character of the geode intact, and the included tall metal stand holds it upright so the "window" faces forward like a piece of wall art you can walk around.
At nearly 2.5 kilograms and standing 41 cm tall on its stand, this is a substantial gallery or entryway piece — equally striking as a sculptural centerpiece or displayed against a mirror or window to double the light.
