About this stone
A crescent moon carved from amazonite, sourced from Madagascar — swirling turquoise-blue and seafoam green threaded through with warm sandy tan and rust-colored feldspar inclusions, like a tide pool frozen mid-motion. Every angle catches the banding differently, so the "moon" seems to shift mood as you turn it. Mounted securely on a sleek silver metal stand with a stable circular base, standing 20cm tall overall.
Amazonite is a blue-green variety of microcline feldspar, prized for centuries for exactly this color — named for the Amazon River, though the river itself doesn't actually host amazonite deposits (early confusion with green stones traded along it stuck the name permanently). Madagascar is one of the world's most respected sources for high-saturation amazonite, and its fine internal cleavage lines are what give this piece that subtle sheen and depth — reading beautifully in a curved, sculptural carve like this one.
Details: Crescent alone: 11 × 2 × 6 cm • 267 g • 20 cm tall with stand • Madagascar origin • Carved crescent moon form • Includes silver metal display stand • Natural color banding, no dye or treatment
